Accessibility Statement
We want everyone to be able to learn with Abuelito, including people who use a screen reader, large text, only their voice, or have low vision or hearing.
What we already do
- Voice everywhere: Abuelito reads questions and options aloud, and Hands-free lets you practice without touching the screen.
- Screen readers: screens are labeled for VoiceOver (iPhone) and web screen readers; decorative drawings are hidden.
- Large text: on iPhone the app follows your system text size (Settings → Display & Brightness → Text Size); on the web, Profile → "Text size" (normal, large and extra large).
- Light and dark themes, with color contrast designed for easy reading.
- Less motion: if your phone has "Reduce Motion" on, animations calm down.
- Large buttons (at least 44 points), and you can replay the audio as many times as you want.
- Offline: the core works without a connection.
- On the website: heading structure, "Skip to content", alt text on images and keyboard navigation.
Our goal
Follow the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, level AA on the website and their equivalent in the apps. We review accessibility whenever we build new screens.
Known gaps
- Some videos don't have captions yet.
- Some practice games rely on seeing a drawing; we're working on a voice alternative.
Something not working?
Email [email protected] with the subject "Accessibility": which app, which screen and what technology you use (for example, VoiceOver or large text). We reply within 2 business days and, while we fix it, help you reach what you need.
